Nemika Jha- Executive Director


Prof. Nemika Jha is an Assistant Professor at the Jindal Global Law School. Ms. Jha graduated from The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata in 2005. At NUJS, Ms. Jha was awarded the University Gold Medal for first rank in class, Sir Asutosh Mookerjee Memorial Gold Medal for best academic performance, and the R. Gopalakrishnan Saroja Gopalakrishnan Gold Medal for best student in Constitutional Law.

After graduating from NUJS, Ms. Jha joined the offices of Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. in Mumbai as an associate in its M&A and corporate law team where she advised some of the leading financial institutions and private equity groups on their domestic and foreign investment strategy in India.  In 2006, she joined the Chambers of Mr. Jaideep Gupta (Barrister-at-law and Senior Counsel at the Supreme Court of India) where she primarily worked on commercial litigation and arbitration. In 2007, Nemika went on to join the LL.M program at Harvard Law School (HLS). After graduating from HLS in 2008, she joined the Washington, DC office of Chadbourne & Parke LLP where she worked as an associate in its project finance team from September 2008 – June 2013.  At Chadbourne, Nemika’s practice focused on the representation of multilateral agencies, project developers and commercial bank lenders in domestic and international project finance.


Manasi Kumar


Prof. Kumar has a Juris Doctor from Lewis & Clark Law School in the United States, where she also served as Internet Editor of the Lewis & Clark Law Review. She graduated cum laude and was inducted into the Cornelius Honour Society, an honour given to select graduates by the professors of the law school. Ms. Kumar’s legal experience is varied in terms of both practice and geography. She was an associate with well-known law firms in India and the United States, where she has been involved in litigation and international arbitration. She regularly appeared in courts in the U.S. She has worked in a diverse set of practice areas, including oil and gas, government procurements, insurance, maritime, construction and general commercial dispute resolution. She also participated in an intensive World Trade Organization Trade Policy Course in Namibia, where she conducted research on the place of human rights within international trade law, and which culminated in a well-received presentation to government officials from several African countries and WTO representatives. Ms. Kumar has co-authored an article on government bid disputes in the construction industry in the U.S. state of Oregon and on the federal level. The article was published in the Oregon State Bar Practitioner’s Guide for the practice of construction law, a staple reference source amongst attorneys in the state. While in the U.S., Ms. Kumar also volunteered her time to coach under-privileged children in moot court, and prepared them to compete in a city-wide competition.Ms. Kumar’s research interests include international arbitration, international trade, and human rights. She is admitted to the Bar of the State of Oregon, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon.


Vikas Kathuria


Prof Kathuria is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Director, Centre for Global Corporate and Financial Law and Policy at JGLS. He has been educated at Delhi University (B.A. and LL.B. degrees) and at London (LL.M) His publications include "Challenges for developing economies on Competition Law enforcement in the face of cross-border mergers and acquisitions" presented at Global Forum on Competition (Organised by OECD) held on 17 and 18 February 2011, France (Co- authored) and "Why should consumers be interested in a Competition Law & Policy", Mehta, Pradeep S (2010), CUTS International, Jaipur, India (Co- authored).






Faiz Tajuddin

Prof Tajuddin is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Director, Centre for Global Corporate and Financial Law and Policy. He completed his BA LLB (Hons.) from NLSIU, Bangalore  and his LL.M. from Columbia Law School, New York.







Arjya B. Majumdar

Prof. Majumdar was working as a corporate lawyer with law firms in India such as Economic Laws Practice, FoxMandal Little and Desai & Diwanji prior to shifting to academia. As a corporate lawyer, Prof Majumdar advised large corporate houses and PSUs on matters relating to mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, foreign investments into India, joint ventures and private equity. He has structured and handled transactions and deals involving share purchases, investments, takeovers, IPOs, FCCBs, GDRs, has undertaken due diligence exercises, drafting, vetting and negotiation of transaction and offer documents and has provided interpretative opinions on Indian commercial law. In addition, he has considerable experience in advising companies in sectors such as telecom, real estate, renewable energy and infrastructure. Prof Majumdar's publications include articles on the Competition (Combination) Regulations, FDI in Retail Trading and the regulatory aspects of Mergers and Acquisitions. 

Prof. Majumdar's course offerings include Property Law, Law of Contracts, Company Law, Securities Regulation and Corporate Governance.
